Correct Table
3. CORRECT
Colour too light... too warm or cool? Shades EQ is the answer for you to perform colour correction services. Its no-ammonia, no-lift formula makes it ideal for correcting unwanted results without lifting. The key to any colour correction is the consultation.
So, before you begin any technical service, make sure to have a proper consultation with your client.

The Colour Correction Consultation
1. Communication: Look for both verbal and non-verbal clues and listen carefully. Go beyond lifestyle needs and desires... ask about the history of the clients hair, and the desired result.

2. Analysis: Check porosity, elasticity, abundance, colour level, white pattern, texture and evidence of previous chemicals.

3. Formulation: Keep the desired results in mind as you consider product choices. Are your results achievable in single or multiple steps? Are you formulating for lift, deposit, white blending? Remember to carry out a skin allergy test (see Health and Safety page).

4. Application: Explain how long the colour application will take and the results expected. Keep the client informed throughout the colouring

5. Care: How will your client maintain the colour when you're done? This is the time to prescribe the Redken Color Extend haircare range

Colour Wheel
FILLING
Using Shades EQ as a filler is necessary when the desired hair colour level and the current hair colour level are more than two levels apart.
For example, if the current hair colour is a level 9 and the desired level is 5, it is necessary to recreate the undertone approximately one level lighter than the desired level - in this example, the undertone that is one level lighter than level 5 is red orange. Using this method of filling overlightened hair allows you to create a colour foundation with Shades EQ.

Filling Table
CORRECT WITH DECOLOURISING WASHES
To restore glazed/toned highlights that have “disappeared” from over-deposit:
Redken recommends using this decolourising technique to gently remove the over-deposit of Shades EQ within the first 24 hours of a colour service.

1. Mix 1 scoop of Shades EQ Dust-Free Lightening Crystals with 2 oz. (60ml) of warm water.

2. Starting at the back of the head, take 1/2 inch partings, staying away from the scalp area. Quickly apply lightening mixture. Strand test every 1-2 minutes until highlights begin to appear. Note: The viscosity of this mixture is very thin.

3. Rinse, shampoo and condition with Redken Color Extend haricare range.
OVER LIGHTENED
Fill over-lightened hair before a tintback service.

INSTRUCTIONS

Select the appropriate Shades EQ Color Gloss approximately one level lighter than the undertone of the desired level.
UNEVEN / BRASSY
Correct uneven, brassy or too vibrant results

INSTRUCTIONS

Select appropriate tone and level to balance current results.
LOWLIGHT
Lowlight hair when more depth is desired.

4. BLENDING OR COLOURING WHITE HAIR
Shades EQ will effectively colour and blend white hair. Using a NB shade in your formula creates a balance of dyes for optimum results on white hair.
